Girls Inc – School Rehabilitation

Overview

Kundlas Consulting Group LLC provided comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) assessment and design for rehabilitation of the Girls Inc. facility in Lowell, Massachusetts, modernizing legacy boilers, split-system cooling, and deficient ventilation to meet code compliance requirements. Kundlas executed HVAC load calculations and designed new ducted split systems, ERV-based fresh air ventilation, hydronic heating upgrades, and commercial kitchen ventilation including Type I hood exhaust with make-up air coordination. Kundlas provided electrical upgrades for mechanical equipment and energy-efficient lighting layouts, and designed plumbing replacements for restrooms, kitchen, and locker rooms. The project improves occupant comfort, indoor air quality, operational reliability, and safety for students and staff. The design leveraged existing infrastructure wherever feasible to minimize cost and construction impact while improving efficiency and performance.
