Cardullo’s Gourmet Shoppe – Retail & Commercial Kitchen Tenant Fit-Out (MEP Design)

Overview

Kundlas Consulting Group LLC provided comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design services for the Cardullo’s Gourmet Shoppe tenant fit-out located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. The project involved transforming a base building retail shell into a fully operational gourmet grocery and kitchen facility featuring open display refrigeration, chest freezers, and a full commercial kitchen. The design required careful integration of new HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems to meet the operational, ventilation, and energy efficiency needs of the space while complying with Massachusetts building and energy codes.

Kundlas designed VRF HVAC zoning for retail, kitchen, and storage areas; a Type I kitchen hood exhaust system with grease duct routing; a rooftop make-up air unit (MAU) to maintain pressure balance and ventilation performance; and coordinated plumbing for food service fixtures, floor drains, and sanitary/vent systems. Kundlas also delivered electrical distribution to support refrigeration, kitchen equipment, lighting, HVAC power, and dedicated circuits with load balancing. The design ensured safe, code-compliant kitchen operation and reliable retail performance.
