María Isabel Rivera serves as an Environmental Engineering & Resilience Lead at Kundlas Consulting Group, where she leads environmental infrastructure strategy, water resources engineering, and climate adaptation initiatives across municipal, utility, and federally supported programs.
A licensed Professional Engineer with more than 12 years of experience, Ms. Rivera specializes in sustainable infrastructure design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater management systems, renewable energy integration, and post-disaster environmental recovery. Her work supports public-sector clients seeking resilient, environmentally responsible solutions capable of withstanding extreme weather and long-term climate pressures.
Born and raised in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Ms. Rivera earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez and completed graduate studies in Water Resources and Climate Adaptation. She brings deep expertise in hydrologic systems, coastal environments, environmental permitting, and regulatory compliance within complex infrastructure and resilience-focused programs.
Ms. Rivera has led multidisciplinary teams in flood mitigation planning, wastewater system upgrades, renewable energy feasibility studies, and microgrid integration initiatives. Following Hurricanes Irma and Maria, she supported environmental damage assessments and infrastructure restoration efforts, helping communities rebuild more sustainably. Fluent in English and Spanish, she combines technical rigor, environmental stewardship, and collaborative leadership to deliver resilient, compliant, and implementation-ready solutions.
